Traveling on U.S. Route 220, exit at the McElhattan/Woolrich Exit.  Travel South about 0.1 mile, and turn left onto Pine Mountain Road.  Travel 2.3 miles and turn right onto Campground Road.  Travel about 0.1 mile and the property will be on your right.  The maple bush sits toward the road, in front of (2005) a burned out basement of a house, soon to be rebuilt.  There are no physical marks of a memorial site.  Note:  As of Summer 2008, even the maple bush was gone.

History:

The ashes of Herbert Z. Lappwere deposited around a maple bush in the yard of the family residence along Campground Road in Wayne Township.  A memorial marker is erected for him in Union-Throne (Yeider) Cemetery.
